Hi there,

Apologies for the delay in getting back to you!

This treatment will work best if the room has a good seal – if there are a lot of gaps under doors, etc. you may need to perform the treatment more than once, or consider the alternate options I will cover below.

For odor removal in a whole room using the gas method, you would use 1 tablet per square foot. Add the tablets to about 1 cup of water in a 5 gallon plastic bucket and then leave the room promptly. Allow for 12 to 24 hours of treatment time, then open doors and windows and allow to air out for at least half an hour. You can place the rug in the sun afterwards to remove any remaining “chlorine pool” smell.
It is the same treatment as odor removal in a house or building. You can find the data sheet here: https://safrax.com/wp-content/uploads/Safrax-Clo2-Odor-Mold-Removal-in-a-Room-House-Building.pdf

You might also consider using a carpet cleaning the machine for severe put urine odors:

-Dilute the chlorine dioxide solution according to the dosage/PPM needed. Always test the chlorine dioxide solution on a small area of the carpet before using it on the entire carpet. In rare cases, chlorine dioxide can cause discoloration or damage to certain types of carpets. Please be sure to spot test first! Organic fibres can become discolored, especially at higher concentrations.

General Treatment: 500 to 1000 PPM
Pet Urine Treatment: 2000 to 3000 PPM

– Fill the carpet cleaning machine’s solution tank with the diluted chlorine dioxide solution.

– Clean the carpet as usual, focus on heavily soiled or stained areas and ensure that the solution is applied evenly across the carpet.

– Allow the solution to sit for a few minutes to penetrate the carpet fibers, using the brushes to help distribute the solution evenly and loosen any dirt or debris.

– Extract the solution from the carpet using the machine’s suction system.

If you have a large bag such as a mattress bag, you can perform the “mini-gas” treatment. Place the rolled up mattress in the bag – we recommend you roll the carpet so the back side is outwards, to avoid any potential spotting if any significant bubbles are released during the gassing. Then place a jar with 2 oz of water carefully at the bottom of the bag. Carefully add 3 to 5 tablets to the water then seal up the mattress bag. Allow for 12 to 24 hours of treatment time. This application may need to be repeated in the case of severe odors.

Please reach out to us if you need any further assistance with this application.

Warm regards,
KT
