For animal drinking water, the concentration has more to do with the quality (level of contamination) of the original water source, as opposed to the specific animals or their weight.
Generally 1 PPM is recommended for disease prevention. In the case of existing disease outbreaks, the target concentration is raised to 5 to 10 PPM.
